NOTE: | This Program must be administered either before or after failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS45881" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code. |

PROBLEM
The existing exhaust components may cause excessive smoke to accumulate in the engine compartment on certain 305E2 Mini Hydraulic Excavators. Insufficient tube diameter, insertion depth of the exhaust stack funnel, and muffler extension pipe may cause the exhaust gas to escape into the engine compartment. |

Replace the existing exhaust components identified. Refer to M0088519, Special Instruction, "Procedure to Install Extended Exhaust Stack and Guard on Certain 304E2, 304.5E2, 305E2, and 305.5E2 Mini Hydraulic Excavators", to complete this Rework Procedure. Refer to the Parts Needed for this Service Letter Program. The Required Parts in M0088519, Special Instruction "Procedure to Install Extended Exhaust Stack and Guard on Certain 304E2, 304.5E2, 305E2, and 305.5E2 Mini Hydraulic Excavators", may include additional parts and configurations not used to perform this Service Letter program. |

Note: The Before Failure repair is an 8.0 hours job and requires the replacement of the existing upward exhaust components. Note: The After Failure repair allows for an additional 1.0 hour repair for a total of 9.0 hours to replace the existing upward exhaust components and muffler. Note: Resultant damage includes, but is not limited to, the 456-2607 Muffler. |
