This Containment Program can be administered either before or after a failure occurs.
In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer and service rep. Obtain the service reps Goodwill Approver Code
before completing the repair. EAME dealers should use their standard Industry Group specific goodwill approval codes. The Goodwill Approver Code must be included when submitting the claim.

If administered before failure, use "56" as Warranty Claim Description and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

The existing 384-4171 Guide Springs for the valve lifters can fail on certain 336E Excavators, 966K Wheel Loaders, and D6T Track-Type Tractors. If an existing lifter guide spring fails it can/will cause the lifter to rotate and damage the camshaft.
In order to allow equitable parts availability to all participating dealers, please limit your initial parts order to not exceed 12% of dealership population. This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer.

Please make sure you have your respective tech rep approval before applying this CSL on machines that you are requesting to be reworked.
If you open engine to rework clips check if machine S/N is also impacted by CSL for injection pumps. If yes please review with your tech rep if you can apply CSL for injection pump at the same time.

Refer to "Lifter Group - Remove and Install".
Group Number 2
Please make sure you have your respective tech rep approval before applying this CSL on machines that you are requesting to be reworked.

If the Lifter Bore is damaged because of a lifter or clip failure please refer to the below procedure to repair the block instead of replacing it.

Inspect all valve lifters and camshaft lobes for evidence of excessive wear on the spring guide slot in the lifter body, broken spring guides, roller pin damage in the lifter body, damage to the roller pin retaining ears, lifter roller wear or cam lobe wear from the lifters turning in the lifter bore.

Inspect all valve lifters and camshaft lobes for evidence of excessive wear on the spring guide slot in the lifter body, broken spring guides, roller pin damage in the lifter body, damage to the roller pin retaining ears, lifter roller wear or cam lobe wear from the lifters turning in the lifter bore.
On engines manufactured prior to December 15, 2011, refer to Reuse And Salvage Guidelines, SEBF9008 for the procedure to rework the cylinder block. See "Reworking the Cylinder Block for Better Alignment of the Lifter Follower Clip".

Please make sure you have your respective tech rep approval before applying this CSL on machines that you are requesting to be reworked.
