THIS TECHNICAL INFORMATION BULLETIN REPLACES THE AUGUST 1, 2001 TIB "POSITION ADJUSTMENT TO ELIMINATE BATTERY CABLE INTERFERENCES". DESTROY THE AUGUST 1, 2001 ARTICLE.
Problem:
The battery cable on certain 140H and 160H Motor Graders may contact the engine oil filter hydraulic line and eventually rub through the cover and cause a short. On certain 12H, 120H, 135H, 140H, and 160H rubbing may also occur between the positive and negative battery cables.
Solution:
The contact between the battery cable and the oil filter hydraulic line on certain 140H and 160H Motor Graders may be easily eliminated by adjusting the position of the 9M-8406 Clips and the 153-9480 Angle As. This adjustment will also contribute to eliminate the contact between battery cables on certain 12H, 120H, 135H, 140H, and 160H.
Refer to the following illustrations for the locations of the adjustments.
