Rack Stops On The Loader Linkage May Not Contact Correctly Caterpillar

Rack Stops On The Loader Linkage May Not Contact Correctly

Usage:

WHEEL LOEADERS988G (2TW1-300) WHEEL LOADERS

Problem:

The upper rack stops (A) on the boom for the bucket linkage on early machines were not machined and may not contact the links correctly. This can cause uneven loading on the linkage pins and accelerate wear on the stops.

Solution:

With the bucket installed and sitting level on the ground, rack the bucket until the upper stops just make contact. Do not continue to rack past this point as the tilt cylinder may bind the linkage. When the bucket is in this position:

*The upper rack stops (A) should contact first and simultaneously on both sides with at least one quarter of the total surface area of each stop.
*The lower rack stops (B) should have similar gaps on both sides and be within 5mm (3/16inch) of contact.

Remove excess material from the upper stops on the boom by grinding as required to meet the above specifications.
