Usage:

Remove Equalizer Bar And Pads

START BY:

a. remove track roller frames

1. Put a 4M2442 Bolt through each end of each of 6V3009 Bar without washers. Bolt and bar are part of tooling (A).

2. Install tooling (A) in each end of the housing on top of the equalizer bar pad. Turn the bolts approximately one turn.

3. Put enough 2M849 Washers (1) on top of each bar so dimension "X" between the top of the washers and the bottom of the equalizer bar is approximately 12.7 mm (.5 in.).

4. Remove the 4M2442 Bolts, and put the same number of washers, as found in Step 3, between the heads of the 4M2442 Bolts and bars (2).

NOTE: A different number of washers can be needed for the bolts at either end of the equalizer bar pads.

5. Do Steps 2 through 4 for the other equalizer bar pad.

6. First tighten all eight bolts until the 6V3009 Bars are just against the equalizer bar.

7. Start with the bolts at locations "Y", and tighten the bolts one turn at a time until each bolt has been turned three revolutions.

8. After the two outside bars have been pulled down, do the procedure again for the two inside bars at locations "Z".

9. Fasten an acceptable jack to the equalizer bar. Remove bolt (3) and the washer. Remove the two bolts and plate (4).

10. Use tooling (B) as shown to remove pin (5) from the equalizer bar.

11. Lower equalizer bar (6), and remove it from the machine. Weight of the standard 943 equalizer bar is 184.5 kg (410 lb.). Weight of the standard 953 equalizer bar is 189 kg (420 lb.).

Install Equalizer Bar And Pads

1. Install tooling (A) on the equalizer bar and housings (1) if it was removed. Use the same procedure shown in the equalizer bar removal except tighten the 4M2442 Bolts ten revolutions instead of just three.

2. Fasten the equalizer bar to an acceptable floor jack.

3. Put equalizer bar (2) in position on the machine. Weight of the standard 943 equalizer bar is 184.5 kg (410 lb.). Weight of the standard 953 equalizer bar is 189 kg (420 lb.).

NOTICE

Use extra caution not to damage the seals in the equalizer bar when pin (3) is installed. Put clean engine oil on the pin.

4. Install pin (3) with the end that has the machined surfaces out as shown.

5. Install plate (4) and the bolt and washer in the end of pin (3).

6. Remove the floor jack and tooling (A) from the equalizer bar.

Disassemble Equalizer Bar And Pads

START BY:

a. remove equalizer bar and pads

1. Fasten a hoist, and put the equalizer bar in position in a press. Weight is 410 kg (900 lb.).

2. Remove seals (1) from both sides of the equalizer bar.

3. Use tooling (A) and the press to remove the bearings from the equalizer bar.

4. Remove tooling (2) and equalizer bar pads only if a replacement is necessary. See the equalizer bar installation for the procedure to install the tooling to put the equalizer bar pads in compression.

Assemble Equalizer Bar And Pads

1. Use tooling (A) and a press to install bearings (1) in the equalizer bar. Install the bearings in both sides of the equalizer bar so dimension "X" between the top of the bearing and the surface of the equalizer bar is 11 ± 1 mm (.433 ± .039 in.). The inside diameter of the bearing after assembly is 63.687 ± 0.084 mm (2.507 ± .003 in.).

2. Use tooling (A) and a press to install the seals in both sides of the equalizer bar with the lip out as shown. Put clean engine oil on the lips of the seals.
