Equalizer Bar Supports

Usage:

Remove Equalizer Bar Supports

START BY:

a. remove track roller frames

b. remove front idlers and yokes

1. Remove four bolts (1) from the pilot and two bolts (2) from the support.

2. Install four 3/4"-10 NC forcing screws in support (3). Tighten the forcing screws 1/4 turn at a time to pull the support and pilot out of the track roller frame.

3. Use a brass bar and hammer to push retainer (4) toward the track adjuster for removal.

Install Equalizer Bar Supports

1. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the outside diameter of pilot (1) and support (2) and in bores (3) in the track roller frame.

2. Put the support in position in the track roller frame with the bolt holes in the support in alignment with the bolt holes in the track roller frame.

3. Use a brass bar and hammer to push the support in far enough so bolts (4) can be started in the track roller frame. Use bolts (4) to pull the support in the remainder of the way. Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 875 ± 100 N·m (640 ± 75 lb.ft.).

4. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the inside and outside diameters of retainer (5).

5. Put retainer (5) in position in the track roller frame with the bolt holes in the retainer in alignment with the bolt holes in the pilot. Install bolts (6) in the retainer, and use the bolts to pull the retainer into position.

Disassemble Equalizer Bar Supports

START BY:

a. remove equalizer bar supports

1. Put the equalizer bar support in a vise as shown.

2. Use two 1/2 in. bolts (1), 2 in. long with nuts and washers to fasten a piece of bar or a crow bar to pilot (2) as shown. Use the bar to turn pilot (2), and remove it from the support.

3. Remove seal (5) from the support.

4. Use a pry bar to remove seals (3) and bushing (4) if they are not tight on the support.

5. Use tooling (A) to remove seals (3) and bushing (4) if they are tight on the support.

6. Use tooling (B) to remove retainer (6) and the outer seal from the support.

7. Use tooling (C) and a press to remove the bearings from the support.

Assemble Equalizer Bar Supports

1. Use tooling (A) and a press to install bearings (2) in support (1). Put the bearings into both ends of the bore in the support so the bearings are even with the bottom of the chamfers as shown.

2. Use tooling (A) to install the seals in the support with the lip out as shown. Use tooling (A) to install the retainer over the outside seal in the support. Install the retainer with the flat side out. Put clean oil on the lip of the seals and on the bearings in the support.

3. Put Locktite No. 277 Adhesive Sealant on both faces of the inside metal ring in seals (3) and (5). Do not put the adhesive sealant on the bores in seals (3) and (5).

4. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the bore in bushing (4).

5. Install seal (5), bushing (4) and seal (3) on the support as shown.

6. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads in pilot (6) and on threads (7). Install pilot (6) on the retainer.

7. Use a drill and tap to make a hole and threads in bar (8) for a 9/16 in. or larger bolt. Install a bolt in the hole in bar (8).

8. Use two 1/2 in. bolts 2 in. long with nuts and washers to fasten bar (8) to the pilot as shown. Install bar (8) so the bolt in the bar is over the center of the pilot. Use a torque wrench and bar (8) to tighten the pilot to a torque of 130 ± 20 N·m (95 ± 15 lb.ft.).

END BY:

a. install equalizer bar supports
