Usage:
1. Remove cover (1) from the track roller frame.
The adjuster cylinder for the track is under high hydraulic pressure. Grease under high pressure can cause injury. Do not visually inspect the adjuster to see if grease is released when the valve is opened. Check the rod to see that it moves to the rear into the front support on the track roller frame. |
2. Loosen the track as follows:
a. Turn valve (2) one turn counterclockwise to permit grease to be released from the vent hole below the valve. If the track does not loosen, start the machine, and move it forward and backward. If the track still does not loosen, go to Step b.
b. Install a slug (3) that is 76.2 mm (3 in.) in diameter and 63.5 mm (2.5 in.) long between the track and sprocket segment. Make sure the slug makes contact with a track bushing. Move the machine to the rear so the track will be pushed up by the slug. This will put tension on the track, and move the front idler and track adjuster to the rear against the force of the recoil spring. If the track still does not loosen, go to Step c.
c. Move the machine forward so slug (3) does not put tension on the track. Loosen bolts (4) a maximum of 6.4 mm (.25 in.). Loosen valve (2) to push the valve seat out the bottom of the track adjuster to release the pressure in the track adjuster. Move the machine to the rear so the track will be pushed up by the slug. This will push the grease in the track adjuster out the bottom of the seat and loosen the track. After the track is loosened, move the machine forward, and remove slug (3) from the track. Tighten bolts (4) in the track adjuster. Tighten the valve in the track adjuster to a torque of 70 ± 15 N·m (50 ± 11 lb.ft.).
3. Install tool (A) under the track as shown, and use tool (A) to lift the track off the track carrier roller as shown.
4. Remove nuts and bolts (5) that hold the track carrier roller to the support, and remove track carrier roller (6).
Install Track Carrier Rollers
1. Put the track carrier roller in position on the support with the dowels in the track carrier roller in alignment with holes (1) in the support. Install the bolts, washers and nuts that hold the roller in the support, but do not tighten.
2. Lower the track on the track carrier roller, and remove tool (A). Move the track carrier roller in or out so it is in alignment with the track, and tighten the bolts that hold the roller in the support.
