Usage:
START BY:
a. lift cab (24° position)
1. Disconnect rod end (1) from the speed-brake lever on the hydrostatic power control unit.
2. Remove bolts (3) and speed-brake control assembly (2) from the cab.
Install Speed-Brake Control
1. Put speed-brake control assembly (1) in position in the cab, and install the bolts that hold it in place.
2. Put rod end (2) from the speed-brake control assembly in position on speed-brake control lever (3) on the hydrostatic power control unit, and install the pin and cotter pin that hold it in place.

Disassemble Speed-Brake Control
START BY:
a. remove speed-brake control
NOTE: Later model pedals do not have an adjustment screw. A plunger assembly is used instead. See Testing And Adjusting for adjustment procedures.
1. Disconnect rod and rod end (1) from the lever.

Pedal (2) has spring tension on it. When bolt (3) is removed, the springs will cause pedal (2) or the support to turn rapidly. Hold pedal (2) against the stop in the support as shown when bolt (3) is removed. After bolt (3) is removed, let the pedal and support turn to release all tension in the springs. |

2. Hold pedal (2) against the stop in the support, and remove bolt (3). Let the pedal and support turn to release all the tension in the springs.
3. Remove bolts (4) that hold the springs to the support.
4. Remove bolt (5) from lever (6). Slide lever (6) to the side.
5. Remove key (8) from the shaft. Remove shaft (7) and lever (6) from the support.
6. Remove pedal (2) and springs (9) from the support.
NOTE: Do not change the setting of the stops in the pedal or support.
7. Use tooling (A) to remove bearings (10) from the support.
Assemble Speed-Brake Control

When the bearings are installed in support (1), push on the end of the bearings that have identification. |
1. Use tooling (A) to install the bearings in support (1).
2. Put springs (3) and pedal (2) in position on the support as shown.
3. Put lever (5) in position in the support, and install shaft (4) as shown.
4. Install key (6) in the shaft. Turn shaft (4) and slide lever (5) into position over the key. Install the bolt in lever (5) to hold the lever tightly on the shaft.
5. Engage the hooks on springs (3) over pedal (2). Install bolts (7) through springs (3) and into the support.
6. Turn pedal (2) against the spring force as shown, and install the bolt that holds shaft (4) to pedal (2).
7. Connect the rod and rod end (8) to the lever as shown.
