Usage:
Disassemble Pivot Shafts
START BY:
a. remove track roller frames
1. Remove bolts (1) and cover (2) from the sleeve.
2. Remove bolts (3) and plate (4) from the end of the pivot shaft.
3. Use 3/8"-16 NC bolts and washers to install tool (A) on sleeve (5). Use tool (A) to pull sleeve (5) off the pivot shaft.
4. Put a ring of weld material around the inside diameters of bearings (6) and (7) to loosen the bearings in the sleeve so they can be removed.
5. Remove ring (8), seal (9) and plug (10) from pivot shaft (12).
6. Remove bolts (11), and fasten a hoist to pivot shaft (12). Install 3/4"-10 NC forcing screws in the pivot shaft, and tighten the forcing screws 1/4 turn at a time to remove pivot shaft (12) from the frame. Weight is 28 kg (61 lb.).
NOTICE |
---|
Do not use an impact wrench to tighten the forcing screws to remove shaft (12). The threads in the shaft can be damaged if an impact wrench is used. |
Assemble Pivot Shafts
1. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the pilot on pivot shaft (2). Install 3/4"-10 NC guide bolts (1) in the frame. Fasten a hoist, and put pivot shaft (2) in position on the guide bolts.
2. Use 3/4"-10 NC bolts 3 1/2 in. long to pull the pivot shaft far enough into the frame to install the original bolts. Install the original bolts in pivot shaft (2), and tighten the bolts to a torque of 360 ± 50 N·m (270 ± 35 lb.ft.).
3. Lower the temperature of bearings (3) and (4), and use tooling (A) and a press to install the bearings. Install bearing (4) so dimension "Y" = 192.0 ± 2.0 mm (7.56 ± .08 in.). Dimension "Y" is the distance from the counterbore to the top of bearing (4). Install bearing (3) so dimension "X" = 0 to 2.0 mm (0 to .08 in.). Dimension "X" is the distance from the counterbore to the top of bearing (3). The inside diameter of bearing (4) after assembly is 69.87 ± 0.13 mm (2.751 ± .005 in.). The inside diameter of bearing (3) after assembly is 88.74 ± .09 mm (3.49 ± .004 in.).
4. Install ring (5) in the sleeve.
5. Put 5P3413 Pipe Sealant on the inside and outside diameter of seal (6). Use tooling (A) and a press to install seal (6) in the sleeve until the seal pushes ring (5) against the counterbore in the sleeve.
6. Use tooling (A) and a press to install plug (7) in the sleeve with the flat side out as shown. Push the plug into the sleeve until the plug makes contact with the seal.
7. Put the sleeve in position on the pivot shaft with plug (8) up as shown.
8. Put tool (B) and plate (9) in position on the end of the pivot shaft. Install 1/2"-13 NC bolts, 1 1/2 in. long to pull sleeve (8) on to the shaft far enough to install the original bolts in plate (9). Install the original bolts in plate (9), and tighten the bolts until plate (9) is against the end of the pivot shaft.
9. Remove tool (B) from behind plate (9). Install plate (9) again, and tighten the three bolts to the correct torque.
10. Put 7M7260 Liquid Gasket Material on cover (10). Put cover (10) in position on the end of the sleeve, and install the bolts that hold it in place.
11. Remove the plug from the sleeve and put 700 cc (23.67 oz.) of clean 30W oil in the sleeve. Put 5P3413 Pipe Sealant on the threads of the plug, and install the plug in the sleeve. Tighten the plug to a torque of 45 N·m (35 lb.ft.).
