  1. Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

  2. Attach Tooling (A) to the exhaust port of the truck body. Attach Tooling (A) to parking brake assembly (12). Use a second person to stabilize parking brake assembly (12). Use Tooling (A) in order to position parking brake assembly (12) to the machine. The weight of parking brake assembly (12) is 50 kg (110 lb). ()

  3. Install six bolts (11) and the washers that secure parking parking brake assembly (12) to the machine frame. Install two bolts (13) and the washers to parking brake assembly (12). Tighten bolts (11) to a torque of 468 ± 61 N·m (345 ± 45 lb ft). Tighten bolts (13) to a torque of 241 ± 41 N·m (178 ± 30 lb ft). Remove Tooling (A ) from the parking brake assembly and from the exhaust port on the truck body.

  4. Install the O-ring seal to hose (6). Connect hose (6) to actuation cylinder (1).

  5. Position actuation cylinder (1) to bracket (10). Install two nuts (7), the lockwashers, and the hard washers that secure actuation cylinder (1) to bracket (10).

  6. Start the engine in order to compress the spring that is in actuation cylinder (1) and thus disengaging the parking brake. Install Retaining pin (9) and the cotter pin that secures lever (3) to actuator arm (8). Turn wrench (4) clockwise in order to apply the contained pressure to lever (3). Adjust lever (3) to the identification mark that signifies the original adjustment of lever (3) to actuator arm (8). Stop the engine.


NOTICE

Before operating the machine, be sure the steering frame lock link is disconnected and put in the storage position.


End By:

  1. Install the center drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, SENR9139, "Center Drive Shaft - Remove and Install".

  2. Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
