CID 060 FMI F00 Electrical System Voltage Value Too High - Test

Usage:

SM-350 1RM
This diagnostic code is recorded when the ECM reads the system voltage as being greater than 32.5 DCV.

The result of this diagnostic code is:

  • A category 3 warning is showing on the Computerized Monitoring System.

The possible causes of this diagnostic code are:

  • A charging system component is faulty.

  • The ECM is faulty (unlikely).

  1. Check Charging System.

    1. Turn the key start switch to the ON position.

    1. Access Service Mode. Place CID 060 FMI F00 on-hold. See Systems Operation, "Diagnostic Operation" for more information.

    1. Observe the status of the diagnostic code (fault) present indicator.

Expected Result: The diagnostic code (fault) present indicator is ON.

      Results:

      • YES - Proceed to Step 3.

      • NO - Proceed to next step.

  1. Check Charging System.

    1. Start the engine.

    1. Access Service Mode. Place CID 060 FMI F00 on-hold.

    1. Observe the status of the diagnostic code (fault) present indicator.

Expected Result: The diagnostic code present indicator is ON.

      Results:

      • YES - The charging system is charging at an excessive voltage. Check and repair the charging system. STOP.

      • NO - There is no diagnostic code at this time. Watch for a re-occurrence. STOP.

  1. Check Battery Voltage.

    1. Stop the engine.

    1. At the battery, measure the voltage.

Expected Result: The voltage is less than 32.5 DCV.

      Results:

      • YES - Therefore, the ECM must be incorrectly recording this diagnostic code. However, it is unlikely that the ECM is faulty. Perform the previous Steps again. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the ECM. See Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace". STOP.

      • NO - The charging system is charging at an excessive voltage. Check and repair the charging system. STOP.
