NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

  1. Place an oil pan below the steering oil filter that will be removed. You may lose a small amount of oil when you remove the filter.

  1. The steering oil filter is located on the left side of the machine. The filter is located below the cab in front of the midbeam. Access the steering oil filter below the machine. Use Tool (A) to remove steering oil filter (1) .

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (2) from the base of the steering oil filter .

  1. Disconnect hose assemblies (5) and (6) from steering oil filter base (8) .

  1. Remove nut (4), the wire, and the washer.

  1. Remove bolts (7), wire (3), and the washers. Remove steering oil filter base (8) from the bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Place steering oil filter base (8) in position on the bracket. Install the washers, wire (3), and bolts (7) .

  1. Install the washer, the wire, and nut (4) .

  1. Connect hose assemblies (6) and (5) to steering oil filter base (8) .

  1. Connect hose assembly (2) to the base of the steering oil filter .

  1. Apply a thin coat of oil to the seal on the filter. Install the filter by hand. When the filter seal contacts the filter base, tighten the filter by an additional turn of 270 degrees. Rotation marks are spaced at 90 degree intervals. Use these rotation marks as a guide for proper tightening.
