Reattaching Grommets To 3E-9167 And 3E-9170 Machine Performance Panels{7490}

Usage:

Challenger 65C (2ZJ),
Challenger 70C (2YL),
Challenger 75C (4KK),
Challenger 85C (9TK) Tractors

On some Machine Performance Panels (MPP) the outer grommet may come loose from the housing. The grommet can be reattached using a special primer and adhesive. The primer and adhesive can be purchased from a Loctite distributor. The local distributor can be determined by calling 1-800-LOCTITE, select the "Technical Product Information" option, be prepared to give the ZIP code of your location. The primer is Loctite Prism Primer 770, Loctite part number 18396. The adhesive is Loctite Prism 406, Loctite part number 40640.

Perform the following procedure to reattach the grommet.

1. Remove the loose grommet. Using 8T-9011 Solvent, clean the inside of the grommet and the surface of the MPP housing.

2. Apply Loctite 770 primer to the inside of the grommet. Within two minutes of primer application, install the grommet onto the housing.

NOTICE

NOTICE Do not allow Loctite 406 adhesive to contact the skin.

3. Pull the grommet away from the housing a small amount. Squirt Loctite 406 adhesive between the housing and grommet. Install the grommet properly and completely. Apply finger pressure to the grommet for about one minute. The adhesive must be applied within 15 minutes of applying the primer.

New MPPs should not have problems with the grommet coming loose, because the manufacturing process has been changed to correct this problem.
