Service Magazine; August 14, 1995; Page 7; "New Indicator For Hydraulic Charge Filter Prevents Leakage"; for CS-431C, CS-433C, CP-563, CS-573, CB-434B, CB-634 Vibratroy Compactors and PM-565 Cold Planers.

The third paragraph of the Adaptable To Section contains incorrect information. The first sentence of the third paragraph should begin: "The new indicator is adaptable to - ."

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

Description of Change: A new indicator for the hydraulic charge filter is now used on the above machines. The new indicator is heavier and less susceptible to leakage.

Adaptable To: The new 122-1787 Indicator Group is a direct replacement for the former 087-0894 Indicator Assembly. The 122-1787 Indicator Group includes two O-rings and two socket head capscrews for installation.

The new indicator is effective with CS-431C (9XL130), CP-433C (2JM165), CS-433C (3TM163), CS-531 (4KM62), CP-533 (5AL31), CS-533 (4HL104), CP-563 (5AJ127), CS-563 (7GG450), CS-573 (8PK66), CS-583 (1EL177), CB-434B (6AL54), CB-534B (4JL193), CB-634 (5CL133) Vibratory Compactors; and PM-565 (3TK96) Cold Planers.

The new 122-1878 Indicator is adaptable to CS-431C (9XL1-129), CP-433C (2JM1-164), CS-433C (3TM1-162), CS-531 (3WM1-Up, 4KM61-Up), CP-533 (3ZL1-Up, 5AL30-Up), CS-533 (3BL1-Up, 4HL103-Up), CP-563 (1YJ323-Up, 5AJ126-Up), CS-563 (8XF661-Up, 7GG449-Up), CS-573 (8PK65-Up), CS-583 (8YJ1-Up, 1EL176-Up), CB-434B (6AL1-Up), CB-534B (4JL1-Up), CB-634 (5CL1-Up) Vibratory Compactors; and PM-565 (3TK1-Up) Cold Planers.

Replacement Procedure

1. Remove and discard the existing indicator assembly, including O-rings and fasteners.

2. Carefully clean and inspect the threads in the filter head for the indicator. If the threads are damaged, the filter head should be replaced.

3. Determine the direction of fluid flow through the filter head. The new indicator must be installed on the filter head with the green arrows on the indicator matching the direction of flow (inlet to outlet) through head.

4. Assemble the O-rings to the seal glands on the filter head. Use a compatible light grease to help hold them in the gland, if necessary.

5. Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock to the threads of the two mounting screws.

6. Assemble the screws to the indicator body, making sure that the pressure access holes in the indicator body will align with the O-rings on the filter head.

Location Of 122-1787 Indicator Group (A)

7. Install the indicator assembly to the filter head and tighten the screws to 1.7 N·m (15 in lb).

NOTE: Do not over tighten.

8. Re-check to see that the indicator is installed in the correct direction (see step 3), start the machine and check for leaks.
