Wear Sleeve Removal Tooling May "Mark" The Crankshaft{1202,1161}

Usage:

Caterpillar Machines Powered By 3406, 3408, And 3412 Machine Engines

When the engine's rear crankshaft seal is replaced, it is possible to "mark" the crankshaft with the wear sleeve removal tooling. These marks can be created if the wear sleeve distorter tool is inserted too deep past the wear sleeve. When the tool is inserted too far, the tool can contact the crankshaft shoulder that positions the wear sleeve on the crankshaft. These marks may also be found on remanufactured 3400 crankshafts. These marks do not reduce the strength or service life of the crankshaft.

Remanufactured 3400 crankshaft core credit acceptance criteria will not be influenced by these marks, that are caused by the correct wear sleeve removal tool. 3400 crankshafts damaged with chisel marks, that have resulted from wear sleeve removal, will continue to be rejected.
