This story includes the following tests:
- Mast Raise Cylinder Speed Test
Note: This test is to be performed on an "As Needed" basis.
Note: All tests and adjustments must be made while the hydraulic oil is at normal operating temperature.
- Move the machine to a smooth level surface that is away from operating machines and away from personnel.
- Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep all other personnel away from the machine or in the operator sight.
- Place the machine in the PARK position.
- Stop the engine.
- Turn the key to the ON position, but do not start the engine.
- Ensure the area is free of personnel.
- Lock the mast in a vertical position.
- Level the machine on the jacks.
- Disconnect the mast raise cylinders.
Note: Secure cylinders so that they will not collide with the A-Frame, Mast, or other structures on the drill.
- Start the engine and run at high idle.
- Extend and retract the mast raise cylinders 10 times.
Note: Be sure to fully stroke the joystick to ensure full flow to the mast raise cylinders.
- Observe the speed of the cylinders as they are extended and retracted.
Note: If the test reveals that the cylinders are moving at differing speeds, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Counterbalance Valve - Test and Adjust" in this manual.
- Lower the engine speed to idle. Shut down the machine.
