Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Release six clamps (1). Loosen two rod assemblies (3 ) and remove cover (2) .

  1. Remove air filter element (4) .

  1. Remove ten locknuts (5) and two bolts (6) .

  1. Remove air cleaner housing (7) .

  1. Loosen clamp (8). Remove three bolts and washers (9). Remove carburetor (11) with adapter (10) .

  1. Remove six bolts and washers (12). Separate carburetor (11) from adapter (10). Check the condition of the gasket between the carburetor and the adapter. If the gasket is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.

  1. Remove indicator (13) from adapter (10) .
