- Apply a light coat of clean engine oil or glycerin to O-ring seal (18) .

- Use Tooling (B) to position governor drive (16) in the original location through the opening in front housing (17) . The weight of governor drive (16) is approximately 32 kg (70 lb).
- Install four bolts (13) . Evenly tighten the bolts until governor drive (16) is seated against the front housing.

- Install four bolts (15) .
- Connect tube assembly (14) .
- Position mounting bracket (11) and install bolts (10) and the washers. Install bolts (12) and the washers.

- Install fuel pump drive gear (7) , ring retainer (6) (not shown) and timing ring (9) .

Note: The flywheel is positioned Top Center compression stroke after the governor is installed.
Note: Install timing ring (9) with the timing hole straight up.
- Install bolts (8) . Tighten bolts (8 ) finger tight. The threaded hole of the timing ring should be at the 12 o'clock position. The threads will be facing forward.
- Install a new gasket between ring cover (5) and the front housing.

- Install ring cover (5) and secure ten bolts (2) .
- Apply Tooling (C) to the threads of nut (3) and tighten to a torque of 27 ± 4 N·m (20 ± 3 lb ft).
- Install nut (4) (not shown) and tighten to a torque of 27 ± 4 N·m (20 ± 3 lb ft).
- Slide a location pin into the hole of the ring cover (5) . Screw the bolt into timing ring (9) in order to pin the ring.
- Remove the cover for the access hole from cover (5) .
- Adjust the position of timing ring (9) by using the access hole. Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 135 ± 5 N·m (100 ± 4 lb ft) through the access hole. Remove the location pin and replace the pin with the plug. Remove the pin and replace the pin with the plug.
- Install the cover for the access hole.
- Connect harness assembly (1) .

End By:
- Install the governor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Governor - Install".
- Install the electronic control module. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electronic Control Module - Remove and Install".
