Usage:
start by:
a) remove rear wheel brakes *
*This operation is in the VEHICLE SYSTEMS DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY section.
1. Drain the oil from the differential case.
2. Remove four bolts to disconnect brake oil cooler inlet line (3) and outlet line (1) form the axle housing. Put identification on two brake lines (2) and remove from the axle housing.
3. Install tool (A) and fasten a hoist to axle housing (4) as shown.
4. Remove nuts (5) and washers that fasten the axle housing to the differential housing. Remove the axle housing from the differential housing.
5. Inspect the condition of the O-ring seal between the axle housing and differential housing and make a replacement if necessary.
6. Put the axle housing in position on the differential housing.
NOTE: Bolts (6) and (7) for the rear wheel brakes must be in position in the axle housing when the axle housing is installed.
7. Put 2P2506 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of nuts (5) and washer faces that fasten the axle housing to the differential housing. Install the nuts and washers. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 525 ± 20 lb. ft. (715 ± 25 N·m)
8. Install two brake lines (2) on the axle housing. Install brake oil cooler inlet line (3) and outlet line (1) with four bolts.
9. Fill the differential housing with oil to the correct level. See LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE.
