Usage:
1. Remove hose (2) from torque converter outlet relief valve (1).
2. Remove three bolts (3) and lockwashers that fasten the outlet relief valve to the torque converter case.
3. Remove the torque converter outlet relief valve from the torque converter case. Remove two O-ring seals from the valve.
Install Torque Converter Outlet Relief Valve
1. Inspect the condition of all O-ring seals and make replacements if necessary.
2. Install two O-rings seals (2) on torque converter outlet relief valve (1). Put the valve in position on the torque converter case.
3. Install three bolts (3) and lockwashers that fasten the valve to the case.
4. Install an O-ring seal on hose (4) and install the hose on the valve.
Disassemble Torque Converter Outlet Relief Valve
start by:
a) remove torque converter outlet relief valve
1. Loosen the bolts that hold cover (2) in place until there is a gap between the cover and the body of about .25 in. (6.35 mm).
2. Remove the bolts that hold cover (1) in place and remove the cover from the body.
3. Remove cover (2) from the body.
4. Remove one O-ring seal (8) from each end of valve body (12).
5. Remove valve spool (5) and spring (4) from the body.
6. Remove spacers (9), spiral snap ring (7), retainer (11), spring (6) and poppet (10) from the body.
7. Remove plug (3) from the body and remove the O-ring seal from the plug.
Assemble Torque Converter Outlet Relief Valve
1. Clean all parts thoroughly and put a thin layer of SAE 10W oil on each of the parts.
2. Install poppet (3), spring (2) and retainer (1) in valve spool (4) as shown.
3. Install spiral snap ring (5) in the valve spool.
4. Install new O-ring seals on each plug (6) and install the plugs in valve body (9).
5. Install the spacers and spring (10) in valve spool assembly (8).
6. Install the spool assembly in the body.
7. Install O-ring seal (7) on the body.
8. Install cover (11) on the body and start the bolts that hold it in position.
9. Install O-ring seal (13) and cover (12) on the opposite end of the valve body. Install the bolts that hold cover (12) in position.
10. Tighten the bolts that hold both covers in place.
