768C TRACTOR & 769C TRUCK POWER TRAIN DISASSEMBLY & ASSEMBLY Caterpillar

1. Lift the body of the truck and put supports under it.

2. Remove four bolts (1) and lockwashers and remove guard (2) from the transmission.

3. Remove bolts (3) and (4) that fasten front drive shaft assembly (5) to the transmission and torque converter and remove the drive shaft.

Install Drive Shaft (Front)

1. Put front drive shaft (1) in position between the transmission and torque converter.

2. Install the bolts that fasten the drive shaft to the transmission and torque converter. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 100 ± 11 lb.ft. (135 ± 15 N·m).

3. Install guard (2) on the transmission with four bolts and lockwashers.
