Engine News SEBD9803, 21 August 2012, "Kits Are Available for Repair of Exhaust Components on Certain 3516 Electric Power Engines with Center-Mounted Exhaust Systems". The article was revised to remove a serial number and a sales model. None of the information below has changed.

The kits will help to improve the sealing of the exhaust systems.

Use of the kits requires replacement of the couplings, the bellows, and the exhaust elbows.Two kits are available, depending on the elbow coupling.

The part numbers of the kits and the parts in the kits are listed in Tables 1 and 2.

Lubricate the threads, the bearing surfaces, and the inside diameter of the clamps with Loctite C5A Copper Anti-Seize.

Tighten the clamps ... 20 ± 5 N·m (15 ± 4 lb ft)

Tap lightly around the circumference of the clamps with a soft hammer. Tighten the clamps again. ... 20 ± 5 N·m (15 ± 4 lb ft)

Lubricate the threads of bolt (6) with Loctite C5A Copper Anti-Seize.

Place gasket (8) in bellows (2) on the turbocharger side.

Place seal (9) in bellows (2) on the side of elbow (4).

Center the clamps within the markings on the hoses.

Orient the clamps so that the T-bolts are separated by a minimum of ... 90 degrees

Tighten the clamps ... 10 ± 2 N·m (89 ± 18 lb in)
