Electronic Control Module (Engine) - Remove and Install
- Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position.

Illustration 1 g01213557 - Remove covers (2).
- Disconnect harness assemblies (3).
- Support ECM (4). Remove bolts (1) and disconnect ground strap assembly (5). Remove ECM (4).
Note: Rubber grommets behind ECM (4) are held in place by the mounting bolts. The grommets help to reduce vibration. The grommets may fall when the bolts and/or ECM (4) are removed.
Note: If the ECM is being replaced, download the personality module before you remove the ECM. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Replacing the ECM".
- Position ECM (4) and the grommets. Connect ground strap assembly (5) and install bolts (1).
Note: You should be able to move the ECM (4) after bolts (1) are installed.
- Connect harness assemblies (3).
- Install covers (2).
- Turn the keyswitch to the ON position.
