C175-16 GEN SET (S/N: WYB1-UP)

Engine News SEBD9833, 11 December 2012, "New Software is Used on C175-16 Generator Set Engines". The original article has been revised because the event code E1044 is High Intake Manifold Pressure.

Description of Change: The previous software update increased engine rpm stability at temperatures below 60° C (140° F).

The new software provides the following additional features:

• The programmable fuel correction factor, similar to the feature used with 3500 Engines, enables more accurate observation of fuel consumption. Programming the configuration parameter requires the use of Cat^® Electronic Technician (ET) Software, 2012B or a newer version.

• To help prevent derating, the trip point for the E1044 High Intake Manifold Pressure event has been increased from 320 kPa (46 psi) to 425 kPa (62 psi).

• Improved diagnostics for the fuel injectors help prevent false alarms and unnecessary replacement of injectors.

• An improved start/stop strategy increases the reliability of start-up.

• To eliminate nuisance E1127(1) Low Fuel Filter (suction side) Intake Pressure events, the trip point was changed from −10 kPa (−1.5 psi) to −30 kPa (−4.4 psi).

• The fuel pressure at the inlet of the transfer pump for the E1129(1) Fuel Filter (suction side) Restriction event was increased from −40 kPa (−5.8 psi) to −45 kPa (−6.5 psi). The change to the fuel inlet pressure was made in order to reflect actual fuel system performance.

Adaptable To: Table 1 lists the software part numbers. The new software is adaptable back to first production of the serial number listed above.
