Roller Retainer Bolt Loosening Caterpillar

Roller Retainer Bolt Loosening

Usage:

TRACK-TYPE TRACTORSD11R (9TR369-UP),
D11R CARRYDOZER (9XR170-UP) TRACK-TYPE TRACTORS;
583 (2XS422-UP) PIPELAYERS

Problem:

Loosening of the 0S-1589 roller retainer bolts on both single flange (156-1007) and double flange (156-1008) rollers has been reported on some D11R Track-Type Tractors and 583 Pipelayers.

Solution:

It is recommended that roller bolts be inspected for proper torque. Torque for the 0S-1589 bolt is 270±40 N·m (199±30 lb ft). If any loose bolts are found during inspection, please report the finding to Tom Belt, Caterpillar Undercarriage Service Engineering at (309) 494-2976. Investigation into the root cause of the loosening is in process. If machines operate with loose roller retainer bolts, oil loss and subsequent roller structural damage may result.
