Improperly Torqued Driveshaft Yoke Hardware

Usage:

PAVING PRODUCTSPS-150B (3XR1-274),
PS-200B (5JR1-219),
PS-360B (9LS1-100),
PF-290B (1XW1-72) PNEUMATIC COMPACTOR

Problem:

Some compactors have improperly torqued hardware on the driveshaft yokes. This hardware may become loose enough to allow the driveshafts to disconnect.

Solution:

The following procedure is designed to prevent driveshaft yokes from loosening and becoming disconnected.

1. Block the wheels to ensure that the machine will not move during this procedure.
2. Remove the bolts and straps at the top end of the driveshaft securing the U-joint to the yoke on the brake assembly output shaft.
3. Move the driveshaft down and out of the way to gain access to the yoke mounting bolt.
4. Remove the bolt and washer securing the yoke to the brake assembly output shaft.
5. Replace the existing washer 4Y-3046 with a new one. Make sure bolt threads are clean and free of oil. Apply 9S-3263 or 4C-4030 Thread Lock and torque the bolt to 102 N·m (75 lb ft).
6. Repeat steps 1-5 for the other driveshaft.
