Usage:

PAVING PRODUCTSCB-214C (9XK593-UP),
CB-224C (3AL975-UP) COMPACTORS

THIS TIB REPLACES THE MARCH 17, 1999 TIB. COMPONENT: 6605, "DRUM EDGE PROFILE". DESTROY THE MARCH 17, 1999 TIB. IT WILL NOT APPEAR IN THE SEMI-ANNUAL INDEX.

Solution:

A new drum edge profile has been developed that reductes the possibility of marking the paving mat. The old profile and the new profile are illustrated below.

OLD PROFILE (9XK1-592, 3AL1-974)

NEW PROFILE

EFFECTED GP. NUMBERS: 110-3081 Drum As., (CB-214C), and 110-3083 Drum As. (CB-224C) modified at Eng. Change level 5.

ADAPTABLE TO: A new drum edge profile has been developed that reduces the possibility of marking the paving mat. The old profile and the new profile are illustrated below. The new drum edge profile can be adapted to older Drum Assemblies with a hand held grinder. Follow the lifting procedure and safety warnings listed in the machine Operation & Maintenance Manual. Raise the machine after installing the steering lock link. Place four appropriately rated stands under the front and rear frames (refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for weights). After insuring that the drums are clear of any obstacles, turn the drums slowly using the machines propel system. An operator should stay on the machine at all times when the drums are turning. Grind both edges of the drums to the new profile shown insuring that the edge is consistent all around the circumference of the drum.
