Transfer Idler Gear Bearing Failures Caterpillar

Transfer Idler Gear Bearing Failures

Usage:

MOTOR GRADERS16H (6ZJ),
14H (7WJ),
16G (93U),
14G (96U) MOTOR GRADERS

Problem:

The (6M-9497) Roller Bearing Assembly in the idler gear that is within transfer gear case, has been failing prematurely. Analysis has revealed movement between the two bearing cups and the cup spacer (current cup spacer being non-hardened). This movement causes spacer wear allowing the bearing to loose adjustment and fail.

Solution:

The 9M-9497 Roller Bearing Assembly has been canceled and replaced by 165-0002 Bearing. The new 165-0002 Bearing has a hardened cup spacer to eliminate the possibility of wearing and getting out of adjustment. The new 165-0002 Bearing is now available.
