Tooth Wear On 6Y5914 (Rotating) Clutch Disc Caterpillar

Tooth Wear On 6Y5914 (Rotating) Clutch Disc

Usage:

MOTOR GRADERS16H (6ZJ),
14H (7WJ),
16G (93U),
14G (96U) MOTOR GRADERS

Problem:

There have been several instances where the teeth have worn off the 6Y5914 clutch disc. This occures in the #8 (rotating) clutch, which is the high range clutch (5th thru 8th) on the No.14 and 16 Motor Graders. This wear has been attributed to the surface finish on the mating clutch hub (3P1626) being out of spec..

Solution:

Even if the 3P1626 Clutch Hub appears to be in good condition, it should be replaced at the same time new 6Y5914 Clutch Disc's are being installed.
