The Locknut On The 152-4811 Hydraulic Filter And The 147-6624 Oil Filter Is Not Installed Correctly After The Filter Elements Have Been Serviced

Usage:

OFF-HIGHWAY TRUCKS797 (5YW1-UP) OFF-HIGHWAY TRUCKS

Problem:

PROBLEM: The 6V-7744 Locknut used on the 152-4811 Hydraulic Filters, for the front and rear brake cooling, steering and fan drive systems and the 147-6624 Oil Filters, for the torque converter and transmission systems, is being unnecessarily run down too far on the rod assembly. This is being done after the filter elements have been serviced. This causes unneccessary labor and time to remove and install the filter elements.

Solution:

It is not necessary to run the 6V-7744 Locknut all of the way down the rod assembly. When the 6V-7744 Locknut is installed onto the rod assembly of the 147-6624 Oil Filter, it only needs to be run down until the end of the locknut is 5.5 ± 1.0 mm (0.2 ± 0.04 inch) from the end of the rod assembly. Refer to Illustration 1, View A-A for the correct installation of the 6V-7744 Locknut on the rod assembly of the 147-6624 Oil Filter.

Illustration 1.

When the 6V-7744 Locknut is installed onto the rod assembly of the 152-4811 Hydraulic Filter, it only needs to be run down until the end of the locknut is 2.5 ± 1.0 mm (0.1 ± 0.04 inch) from the end of the rod assembly. Refer to Illustration 2, View B-B for the correct installation of the 6V-7744 Locknut on the rod assembly of the 152-4811 Hydraulic Filter.
