Usage:
Problem:
The lube pressure of the Automatic Lubrication System is not reaching the lower pressure threshold of 12755 kPa (1850 psi) in the time allowed by VIMS. This occurs in locations with cooler ambient temperatures.
Solution:
Verify that the Automatic Lubrication System is operating correctly. Refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting; RENR2619; Automatic Lubrication System - Test and Air System - Test for the 797 Off-Highway Truck Automatic Lubrication System.
After verifying that the system is working properly, it will be necessary to remove the 8D-4755 Regulator. The resulting higher air pressure to the Auto Lube pump allows the lube pressure to reach the required operating pressure faster during the lube cycle.
Refer to the following procedure in order to remove the 8D-4755 Regulator:
Illustration 1.
Illustration 2.
- 1. The Automatic Lubrication System (1) is located on the front bumper. Illustration 2 Warning:
Pressurized air can cause personal injury. The air supply lines are pressurized to 830 kPa (120 psi). Purge the air from the system before performing any maintenance to the air system. |
- 2. Disconnect hose assembly (6) from elbow (5).
- 3. Remove elbow (5) from regulator (4).
- 4. Remove regulator (4) and nipple (3) from tee (2).
- 5. Apply 5P-3413 Pipe Sealant to the threads of tee (2) elbow (5).
- 6. Install elbow (5) to tee (2).
- 7. Connect hose assembly (6) to elbow (5).
