Shimming Procedure For The 152-3601 Steering Cylinder

Usage:

OFF-HIGHWAY TRUCK797 (5YW1-UP) OFF-HIGHWAY TRUCK

Problem:

The cylinder rod eyes, located at the ends of the steering cylinders on the 797 Off-Highway Truck, may have excessive vertical movement at the steering arm. Excessive movement is any movement greater than 1.0 mm (0.040 inch).

Solution:

If excessive vertical movement is detected, the cylinder rod eye will need to be shimmed to the steering arm. Refer to Table 1 and use shims as necessary.

Position the necessary shims between clevis (1) and cylinder rod ends (2) at the location marked (X).
