--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------
Description of Change: New mud guard groups are available for the machines listed above. The new mud guard groups include an improved mounting arrangement and new deflectors. The new deflectors are made from a stronger material that has more resistance to tearing.
Adaptable To: The new mud guard groups are adaptable to first production of the machines listed above. The new mud guard groups replace the former mud guard groups. On D300E machines, it is necessary to provide a new mounting plate on the dump body in order to install the new mud guard group.
Chart 1 lists group numbers applicable to each model.
Chart 1.
Charts 2, 3, & 4 list the breakdown of each new mud guard group. All parts are needed to install the new group.

Installation Procedure:
1. Remove the existing mud guard group and discard all parts.
D300E ONLY:
2. Remove and retain Plate (D) shown in illustration 2 (both sides of the body). Dress the rough edges. Alternatively, fabricate two plates using steel with a minimum yield strength of 275 MPa (39900 psi). Use the dimensions given in illustration 1 and chart 5.

5. Refer to illustration 3. Check the position of plates (12) and bolt hole alignment, by offering up 164-7293 Mounting Plate (1). Adjust the position of the plates (12) as required.
6. When the correct position has been established, fully weld the plate in position. Provide a 6 mm (0.25 in) fillet weld all around the plates.
7. Remove weld spatter and repaint as required.
ALL MODELS:
8. Assemble the new mud guard group to the dump body as shown in illustration 3 (also refer to charts 2, 3 or 4, depending on machine model).
