Rear suspension cylinders and remanufactured rods and cylinders for the listed models are now manufactured with smaller rod eye bores and smaller cylinder eye bores. The smaller bores grip the eye bearings better and prevent the bearings from spinning.
From June 1996 through May 1998, 106-1801 Rear Suspension Cylinder Groups and 106-3722 Rear Suspension Groups were manufactured with oversized rod and cylinder eye bores. Until April 1999, remanufactured rod assemblies and remanufactured cylinder assemblies were also manufactured with oversized eye bores. The eye bearings may spin in these bores.
When you inspect or when you replace 106-1801 Rear Suspension Cylinder Groups and 106-3722 Rear Suspension Groups, measure the inside diameter of the cylinder eye bores and the inside diameter of the rod eye bores. The eye bores should be 203.12 ± 0.05 mm (7.997 ± .002 in) in diameter.
NOTICE |
---|
Do not use rear suspension cylinder groups, rods, or cylinders with eye bores that are not within tolerance.
|
If you find a 106-1801 Rear Suspension Cylinder Group, a 106-3722 Rear Suspension Group, or a remanufactured rod or cylinder with eye bore diameters larger than 203.17 mm (7.999 in), replace it with a component that is within the tolerance shown in Table 1. An alternative to replacement would be to rework the component until it is within the tolerance shown in Table 1.
