Item 14 in the referenced D&A Manual is incorrect. It should read as follows:
14. Install spanner nut (17) to the drive shaft. Orient housing (29) in the vertical position with the flange down. Rotate shaft (20) and rap the sprockets while tightening spanner nut (17) to a torque of 12 ± 1 N·m (100 ± 10 lb in). This will preload the bearings. Back spanner nut (17) off one locking position and rap the sprockets. This is done to assure that the bearings are fully seated. Final rolling torque should be 4 ± 1 N·m (35 ± 10 lb in). Adjust spanner nut (17) to obtain the correct rolling torque value above seal drag.
