Improved Fuel Injector Control Groups Reduce Control Linkage Wear

3600 Family Of Engines

Description of Change: The fuel injector control groups have been improved to reduce control linkage wear. Grease fittings are added to the control rod ends to provide lubrication. Also, a collar is added to improve the cross shaft life. The collar allows adjustment of end play.

Adaptable To: On 3606 Engines in the 1W0821 Fuel Injector Control Group, the former 4W6205 Rod Assembly is replaced with 9Y8490 Rod (1), 7X7874 Rod End (2), 7X7875 Rod End (3), 1S3584 Nut (4) and 3S2713 Nut (5).

On 3608 Engines in the 1W0854 Fuel Injector Control Group, the former 4W6205 Rod Assembly is replaced with 9Y8490 Rod (1), 7X7874 Rod End (2), 7X7875 Rod End (3), 1S3584 Nut (4) and 3S2713 Nut (5).

On 3612 Engines in the 1W0892 Fuel Injector Control Group, the former 7W3650 Rod Assembly is replaced with 9Y8485 Rod (1), 7X7874 Rod End (2), 7X7875 Rod End (3), 1S3584 Nut (4) and 3S2713 Nut (5).

On 3616 Engines in the 1W0923 Fuel Injector Control Group, the former 7W3650 Rod Assembly is replaced with 9Y8485 Rod (1), 7X7874 Rod End (2), 7X7875 Rod End (3), 1S3584 Nut (4) and 3S2713 Nut (5).

For all 3600 Engines with the 7C8422 Fastener Group for the EGB29P Actuator, the former 7W3649 Rod Assembly is replaced with 9Y8489 Rod, 7X7874 Rod End, 7X7875 Rod End, 1S3584 Nut and 3S2713 Nut.

NOTE: The control rod ends are to be lubricated at 1000 hour intervals with 2S3230 Lubricant.

The new 7E4392 Collar (6) and 217941 Bolt (7) replace the former 9Y0560 Collar, 3V3308 Washer and 0S1571 Bolt. The shaft end play specification is 0.30 ± 0.20 mm (.012 ± .008").

The new components are effective with 3606 (8RB348), 3608 (6MC277), 3612 (9RC57), 3616 (1PD30) Engines and are adaptable to earlier engines when used together.
