Usage:
3600 Family Of Engines
Description of Change: The length of the guide tube for the oil level gauge assembly, and the markings on the gauge (dipstick), may produce erratic oil level readings. This is because the guide tube is too short for the length of the dipstick and may cause engine oil to splash up too far inside the dipstick guide tube. When this happens, the oil covers a greater length of the dipstick. Also, the markings on some dipsticks may be inconsistent. This combination may cause inaccurate oil level readings to occur. To solve this situation, pre-marked dipsticks are used. The customer or dealer may also lengthen the guide tube by 75 mm (3") to minimize splashing oil during engine operation at low oil levels. See the illustration and chart.
Adaptable To: See the chart for the correct part numbers and applications for the new dipsticks. These changes are effective with 3606 (8RB354), 3608 (6MC280), 3612 (9RC60), 3616 (1PD32) Engines, and adaptable to first production.
