Incorrect installation of the 1W0605 Pinion Bearing in governor drive housing can result in a lack of lubrication to the 1W2332 Thrust Washer. This can lead to excessive wear of the thrust washer which can result in the pinion gear disengaging from the governor drive gear. This can allow the engine to overspeed.
Be sure the pinion bearing is correctly installed in the governor drive housing. The oil hole in the 1W0605 Pinion Bearing must be in alignment with the passages in the bore for the bearing in the housing. Install the pinion bearing into the housing until it is flush with the bottom of the counterbore for the thrust washer.
