Usage:
3606, 3608, 3612, 3616 Industrial Engines
Description of Change: Cavitation erosion may occur in the front gear train on the above engines. Evidence of the erosion may be found in the front gear train idler bearings near the internal oil supply groove. To eliminate this condition, new idler bearings and gears are used. The new components have been redesigned without the internal oil groove where the cavitation erosion began.
Adaptable To: The new 7E8172 Sleeve Bearing (3) replaces the former 1N3835 Bearing located in each of the new idler gears. The new 7E8173 (68 tooth) and 7E8174 (67 tooth) Gear Assemblies (1, 2) replace the former 1N3833 and 8N8097 Gear Assemblies, respectively, in the improved 1W0790 Front Gear Group. This change is effective with 3606 (8RB399), 3608 (6MC305), 3612 (9RC82), 3616 (1PD42) Industrial Engines, and is adaptable to first production. See the illustration for the location of the new parts.
