NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, Cooling System Coolant - Change.

  2. Remove bolts (1) and left-hand guard assembly (2).

  3. Disconnect harness assembly (3).

  4. Remove clamps (4) and cable straps (5).

  5. Remove bolt (7) and clips (6).

  7. Remove bolt (9) and clips (10).

  8. Remove cable straps (11).

  9. Remove bolt (12) and clips (13).

  16. Disconnect hose assemblies (24) and (25).

  17. Remove bolts (26) and plate assembly (27).

  18. Remove elbow adapter (28) and relief fitting (29).

  19. Remove bolts (30) and guard assembly (31).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the belt guard group in reverse order as removal.

  2. Apply Tooling (A) to elbow adapter (28).

  3. Install bracket assembly (21) and bolts (20). Tighten bolts (20) to a torque of 15 ± 3 N·m (11 ± 2 lb ft).

  4. Apply Tooling (B) to bore lightly. Install tube assembly (17) and bolts (16).

  5. Install clamp (14). Tighten clamp (14) to a torque of 17 ± 1 N·m (13 ± 1 lb ft).

  6. Install clamps (4). Tighten clamps (4) to a torque of 17 ± 1 N·m (13 ± 1 lb ft).

  7. Fill the coolant system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, Cooling System Coolant - Change.
