Note: The engine speed and/or the machine configuration that is used during this test can affect the results of this test.
Reference: Testing and Adjusting, "Engine Performance - Test (Engine Speed)" for the engine speeds that were used for this test.

The relief valve pressure settings must be set to the relief valve pressure specification before performing this operational check.
Reference: Testing and Adjusting, "Specifications".
Measuring the swing speed on a slope will determine if there is a need to check the swing motor. Measuring the swing drift on a slope will determine if there is a need to check the swing parking brake.

(C) Marking - To indicate the relationship of the two positions, put a mark (C) on the inner race and the outer race of the swing bearing. Refer to Illustration 2.
- Ensure that bucket is close to the implements.
- Ensure that front implements, bucket cylinders, and swing control are there maximum reach positions.
- Position of the bucket should above the ground so that the bucket will not come in contact with any obstacles.
- The upper structure should be at a 90 degree angle to the lower structure.
- For a swing drift on a slope make sure that hydraulic activation lever in the unlocked position.

- Complete the following steps to measure the swing speed on a slope.
- Start the engine.
- Place the engine speed dial in the HIGH IDLE position.
- Increase the hydraulic oil temperature to
55° ± 5°C (131° ± 9°F) .Show/hide tableIllustration 3 g06365026 - With the swing control fully shifted, measure the time that is required to swing the upper structure from position (X) to position (Y). Refer to Illustration 3.
- Measure the time that is required to swing the upper structure from position (X) to position (Y).
- Change the position of the upper structure at position (Z).
- Measure the time that is required to swing the upper structure from position (Z) to position (Y).
- Refer to Table 1 for specification.
- Complete the following steps to measure the swing drift on a slope.
- Position the upper structure at position (X). Refer to Illustration 3.
- Start the engine.
- Place the engine speed dial in the LOW IDLE position.
- Leave the machine in this position for 3 minutes. Measure the swing drift on the circumference of the swing bearing. Refer to Illustration 2.
- Change the position of upper structure at position (Z). Refer to Illustration 3.
- Repeat Steps 1b through 1d.
- Refer to Table 1 for specification.
