NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  2. Remove bolts (1), bolts (2), bolts (3), adapter (4), and the clamps.

  3. Remove bolt (7), clamp (6), and clamp (10).

  4. Remove bolts (8), bolts (9), joint assemblies (5), tube assembly (11), and tube assembly (12).

  5. Use a suitable lifting device to remove regulator housing (17). The weight of regulator housing (17) is approximately 24 kg (53 lb).

  6. Remove bolts (13), bolts (14), bolts (16), bracket (15), and regulator housing (17).

  7. Remove bolts (18), bolts (19), and the clamps.

  8. Remove bolts (20) and elbow (21).

  9. Remove bolts (22), bolts (23), and auxiliary water pump (24).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install auxiliary water pump (24) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Apply Tooling (A) to the bore of auxiliary water pump (24).
