--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------
Description of Change: Test data indicates that the rocker arm and camshaft load limits were being exceeded during severe truck operations. As the result, the compression brake slave piston lash is now factory set to a lower value. By reducing the slave piston lash setting, the rocker arm and camshaft loads will remain within their design limits. Engines set at 435 horsepower and higher will regain engine retarder performance after resetting the valves and retarder slave piston lash to factory specifications. This readjustment should occur on all engines in operation between 15,000 and 60,000 miles. No performance affect will be noticed on the 310 and 410 horsepower engines.
Adaptable To: The new compression brake slave piston lash factory setting of 0.686 mm (.0270 in) is a direct replacement for the former factory setting of 0.762 mm (.0300 in). The new setting is effective with the 3406E (5EK43821-Up) Truck Engine.
