Description of Change: The exhaust restrictor helps shorten the warm-up period on 3406B and 3406C Truck Engines. It also helps maintain adequate coolant temperatures in cold climates. For the exhaust restrictor to properly function on the above truck engines, an adapter ring is required.

In certain applications mounting the exhaust restrictor in its normal location on the turbocharger turbine housing is impractical or impossible because of space limitations. In those situations, the adapter ring permits installation of the exhaust restrictor elsewhere on the exhaust system.

Adaptable To: The adapter ring is required when installing the 6I-0799 Exhaust Restrictor Group on all truck engines shown above. The adapter ring should be welded to the turbocharger side of the exhaust piping.

NOTE: No part number has been assigned to the adapter ring. It is not available through the normal parts system. Contact the 3400 Engine Product Analyst at (309) 578-6901 to obtain the adapter ring. For further installation information, see the above Reference Article and the instructions included with the 6I-0799 Exhaust Restrictor Group.
