Handling Electronic Unit Injectors (EUI){1290}
Usage:
3406E (5EK) Truck Engines
Reference: Service Manual Module, Disassembly And Assembly 3406E Diesel Truck Engine, SENR6421-01, Page 8, "Remove And Install Electronic Unit Injectors".
See the Reference for removing or installing the EUI's. When removing an EUI from the engine or when handling an EUI, be sure tappet (1) and plunger (3) do NOT come out of barrel (2). If the tappet and plunger do come out of the barrel, do NOT reuse the EUI. Install a new EUI.
Location of EUI components.
EUI's manufactured after July 1994 have the depth of groove (4) increased to better retain steel ball (5). Groove (4) and steel ball (5) prevent the unintentional separation of the tappet and plunger from the barrel.
