Usage:

1160, 3160, 3208, 3116 Truck Engines

SUPPLEMENT: 04/01/95

Truck Engine News, February 1995, Page 4, "Returning Core Engines For Full Refund".

Disregard the first paragraph of article. The correct first paragraph follows:

Core acceptance criteria specifies that the engine crankshaft must be reotated to receive a full core refund. The crankshaft has to be able to rotate (bar over) in the core receiving area, without causing any internal damage to the engine.

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

Reference: Cat® Reman Engines, Core Acceptance Criteria, SELD0019.

Core acceptance criteria specifies that the engine crankshaft can be rotated to receive a full core refund. The crankshaft has to be able to rotate to prevent transit damage and bar over in the core receiving area can occur without any damage.

If the Cylinder head is removed from an 1160, 3160, 3208 or 3116 Truck Engine, and a later decision is made to purchase a Cat® Reman engine, it is necessary that the crankshaft can be rotated before a full core refund is issued. Cores returned without a cylinder head gasket or spacers to provide cylinder head clearance, will receive a partial core refund. It is acceptable to return a core without a cylinder head gasket as long as suitable spacers or shims have been installed to allow clearance between the cylinder head and pistons when the crankshaft is rotated.
