New Thicker Exhaust Manifold Gasket Used{1059}

Usage:

3406C (3ZJ),
3408 (28V) Truck Engines

Description of Change: A new thicker exhaust manifold gasket is used in these truck engines. The thickness of the new gasket has been increased 0.30 mm (.012 in), to 1.90 ± 0.10 mm (.075 ± .004 in). The former gasket was 1.60 ± 0.10 mm (.063 ± .004 in) thick. The illustration shows the different shaped bolt holes in the new and former exhaust manifold gaskets.

(A) Circular bolt holes in new 105-2873 Exhaust Manifold Gasket. (B) Straight sided bolt holes in former 9Y-4582 Exhaust Manifold Gasket.

Adaptable To: The new 105-2873 Exhaust Manifold Gasket is a direct replacement for the former 9Y-4582 Exhaust Manifold Gasket. The new gasket is in effect with 3406C (3ZJ56119) and 3408 (28V4920) Truck Engines.

The new 105-2873 Exhaust Manifold Gasket can be used to replace the former 9Y-4582 Exhaust Manifold Gasket, ONLY if all the exhaust manifold gaskets for each bank of cylinders is the same.

NOTE: The 105-2873 Exhaust Manifold Gasket should NOT be used on 3406C (8PN) or 3406E (5EK) Truck Engines. These engines use the 101-0148 Exhaust Manifold Gasket.
