Air Starting Motor - Remove

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


------ WARNING! ------

Shut off the air supply at the air reservoir. Drain the pressurized air from the air starting system. The sudden release of pressurized air can cause personal injury.

    Note: Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "General Information (Reference Material)" for more information.

  1. Turn OFF the air supply at the air reservoir. Ensure that the air pressure is drained from the starting air system.

  1. Disconnect tube assembly (1) from the air starting motors. Move the tube assembly away from the air starting motors.

  1. Disconnect hose assembly (2) and hose assembly (3) from the starter pinion nose housing.

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to air starting motor (4). The weight of air starting motor (4) is approximately 54 kg (120 lb). Remove the bolts that hold air starting motor (4) in place. Remove air starting motor (4) .
