Disassembly Procedure

Start By:
- Remove the water pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Pump - Remove".

Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life. |
- Remove bolts (5) and gear (4) .
Note: Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "General Information (Reference Material)" for more information.

- Put an alignment mark across housing (1) and water pump housing (3). The orientation of the housings is different on the left water pump and the right water pump.
- Remove bolts (2). Separate housing (1) from water pump housing (3). Remove the O-ring seal from water pump housing (3) .
- Loosen bolt (6). Do not remove the bolt. Use a block and Tooling (B) in order to put tension on the impeller. Tap the center of the block in order to loosen impeller (8) on the shaft. Remove bolt (6) and washer (7) .

Personal injury can result from parts and/or covers under spring pressure. Spring force will be released when covers are removed. Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened. |
- Remove spring (10) from shaft (9) .

- Remove seal (11) .
- Remove bolts (12) and thrust washer (13) .

- If necessary, use Tooling (A) and a suitable press in order to remove seal (14) .
Note: Check the O-ring seals for wear or damage. If necessary, replace the O-ring seals.

- Remove bearings (15) and bearings (16) from water pump housing (3) .
