Procedure to Separate the Track

|
The machine must be on a level, hard surface before a separation of the track is made. Any time a separation of both tracks is made, the machine must have blocks correctly positioned so the machine will not move. |

To prevent personal injury, never visually inspect the vent holes or the valves to see if grease or oil is coming out of them. Make sure the vent holes are clean before the tension is released on the track. Watch the front roller frame to see that it moves. |

- Loosen the track by performing the following steps:
- Turn relief valve (2) counterclockwise by one turn. This adjustment releases grease from the track tension accumulator. If the track does not loosen, proceed to Step 2.b.
- Turn relief valve (3) counterclockwise by one turn. This adjustment releases grease from the track tension accumulator. If the track does not loosen, start the machine. Move the machine forward and backward. If grease is not released, proceed to Step 2.c.
- Install a piece of round bar stock between the bushing and the sprocket inside the track links. Move the machine to the rear, so the round bar stock pushes the track upward. This movement increases tension on the track. The track tension accumulator moves inward.

- Move the track until the master link is aligned with the centerline of rear idler (6). Place wood blocks under the grouser below the master link. Move the track rearward until the track is firmly against the wood blocks.
- Remove bolts (4) and master shoe (5). The master shoe weighs approximately 20 kg to 38 kg (43 lb to 83 lb). The weight varies with the type of track on the machine.

Personal injury can result from the track coming off of the roller frame. The track can move off the track roller frame very quickly when a separation of the track is made. Keep away from the front of the machine when the track is removed from the track roller frame. |

- Fasten a chain to the end of track (8) and to another machine. Turn the final drive in the forward direction. Permit the track to fall forward while the other machine moves forward. The track weighs approximately 1676 kg to 2602 kg (3697 lb to 5740 lb). The weight varies with the type of track on the machine.
- Lift one side of the machine. You are now ready to remove the track.
